Documents are requested by the customs administration during the vehicle's entry into Turkey.

- Certificate of Ownership (license) showing that the vehicle is registered in the country of residence of the person who brought it to Turkey
- Passport of the person who brought the vehicle to Turkey, or an identity document that replaces a passport,
- Traffic insurance policy
- Rental agreement for rental vehicles,
- It is a power of attorney for vehicles arriving via power of attorney.


How long can your vehicle stay in Turkey?
Vehicles of Turkish citizens living abroad can stay in Turkey for a maximum of 730 days.
Vehicles of foreign nationals holding a residence permit in Turkey can stay in Turkey for a maximum of 730 days, taking into account the residence permit period. For example, if the person has a residence permit in Turkey for 6 months, they can stay in Turkey for 6 months with their vehicle.
Vehicles of foreign citizens who do not have a residence permit in Turkey can stay in Turkey for a maximum of 90 days.
If automobiles, off-road vehicles, pickup trucks and motorcycles belonging to legal entities are brought to Turkey, these vehicles are given a period of up to 90 days.


Can you bring someone else's vehicle to Turkey?
It is possible to bring a vehicle with a foreign license plate that belongs to someone else to Turkey by power of attorney or by leasing.
If you are bringing the vehicle by power of attorney, you must present a valid power of attorney to the customs office.
In this case, both you as the person bringing the vehicle by proxy and the owner of the vehicle must be residing outside of Turkey.
In addition, the vehicle must be registered in the country of residence of the person bringing the vehicle.
However, persons residing in the European Union and European Free Trade Union countries can also bring vehicles registered in their names outside their place of residence and in the countries within the union.
In the case that you bring the vehicle to Turkey by renting, you must give the rental contract to the customs administration.


Who can use your vehicle with foreign license plate in Turkey?
Vehicles with foreign license plates; It can be used by the spouse, mother, father and children residing abroad, as well as the person whose name is registered when entering Turkey.
Even if the person on whose name the vehicle with foreign license plate is registered is in the vehicle, no one other than the ones mentioned above can drive the vehicle.


Can you leave your vehicle in Turkey and go abroad?
In this case, you must do one of the following two actions:
You deliver the vehicle to the nearest customs office.
You give the Commitment letter which states that the vehicle you want to leave in Turkey will not be used by another person to the nearest customs office in two copies. You can submit this letter to the customs administration by using the "Commitment and Removal of Undertaking for Departures Abroad" available at www.turkiye.gov.tr


Can you take your vehicle with foreign license plate abroad with a power of attorney?
A vehicle with a foreign license plate can be taken abroad with a valid power of attorney.
For this, all necessary conditions must be met:
A valid power of attorney must be submitted to the customs office.
The person who will take the vehicle abroad must be a resident abroad.
Persons who give power of attorney and those who receive power of attorney must apply to the customs administration together.


Can you transfer your vehicle with foreign license plate to someone else?
Vehicles with foreign license plates in Turkey cannot be transferred to another person.


You can make a declaration before you come to Turkey with your vehicle;
Before you come to Turkey, you can inform customs office that you will bring a vehicle with a foreign license plate.
For this, you can save your information about the vehicle and the person who will bring the vehicle by using the "Vehicle Pre-Declaration Application" in the "E-Transactions" menu on the website of the Ministry of Commerce.
This registration will accelerate the procedures during the entry of the vehicle into Turkey.

In order not to be penalized, you must take the vehicle out of the country at the end of the periods granted to you.
